Capsule Resume
A self-confessed gumboot biologist, Richard has spent over a decade researching and managing Pacific salmon fisheries, developing protocol for assessing fish populations and habitat using advanced hydroacoustic technology, and managed numerous biotelemetry and mark-recaptures studies on large rivers. Richard's currently working on salmon conservation and restoration initiatives in the Fraser River Basin.
Richard is a technical advisor of the internationally acclaimed Nisga'a Fisheries Program, co-manager of the third largest sockeye fishery in Canada, and responsible for the transfer of knowledge and skills to members of the Nisga'a First Nation in monitoring salmon escapement, monitoring fisheries harvest, and researching factors limiting production of salmon and non-salmon species in the Nisga'a territory http://www.nisgaalisims.ca/nfp.html.
