Capsule Resume
James has spent his life pursuing a keen interest in the wide variety of plants and animals that inhabit British Columbia. Since the completion of a Bachelor of Science degree in 2001, he has contributed to a variety of projects such as monitoring and managing for endangered bird (Sage Thrasher, Burrowing Owl, Lewis' Woodpecker, Black Rail) and plant species in western North America, habitat assessments in both southern and northern B.C., and developing mitigation strategies to reduce the environmental impact of oil and gas development in Alberta.
Since joining LGL, James has had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of interesting and challenging projects, ranging from fisheries research to surveys of large ungulates. Other projects that he has contributed to include the monitoring of terrestrial mollusc populations in Oregon and an environmental feasibility study on the Queen Charlotte Islands. He currently oversees an intensive small mammal monitoring program on the grounds of the Vancouver International Airport and has acted as Lead Marine Mammal Observer in northern Alaska in conjunction with oil and gas exploration in the Chukchi Sea. James has a strong desire to take a creative and innovative approach to the study and management of wildlife.
