Capsule Resume

Chris joined LGL after completing his M.Sc. at Colorado State University where he designed and implemented a mark-recapture, photo-identification study to estimate the early survival rates of neonatal Steller sea lions. Prior to graduate studies, he spent several years studying Steller sea lions on a broader scale for the Marine Mammal Section of the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. This work involved implementation of mark-recapture, photo-identification vital rates studies, organizing large-scale, multi-organization scientific cruises and developing techniques to safely capture and handle Steller sea lions for biological sampling and telemetry studies. Chris also has several years of “hands on” experience working with a variety of birds and mammals including sharptail grouse, sea ducks, river otters, wolves, brown bears, black bears and moose. Chris is currently engaged in writing a petition for regulation changes in regard to the MMPA for the Knik Arm Crossing Bridge project.
