Capsule Resume
Courtney began working for LGL in 2006 as part of a team studying beluga whale and fish populations on the west side of Cook Inlet. Much of her prior field work has focused on studying the impacts of human harvest on marine ecology. Her master's thesis assessed influences of Giant Pacific Octopus on crab and invertebrate populations. Prior to that, she worked on a University of Washington research project comparing the trophic structure of ecosystems in no-take fish reserves to fished areas. She has also served as a Coastal Resource Management volunteer with the Peace Corps helping to educate and involve Filipino subsistence fishers in the preservation of their local marine resources.
