Capsule Resume
Sonya K. Meier, M.Sc., R.P.Bio., is as a marine ecologist. Before joining LGL, Sonya was involved in a research project studying seasonal habitat use and feeding ecology of eastern gray whales in Clayoquot Sound, Vancouver Island. Since joining LGL in 2001, Sonya has been working on a project to monitor and mitigate potential effects of oil and gas activities on the distribution and feeding ecology of critically endangered western gray whales in the Russian Far East. She has also been involved in mitigation and monitoring of the potential effects of seismic noise on marine mammals, including writing environmental assessments and monitoring reports. In 2001, she was invited to speak at the 14 th Biennial Conference on the Biology of Marine Mammals about the use of geographic information systems in marine mammal science and she has participated in many other workshops and conferences. |
