Capsule Resume

Mr. Murauskas has been involved with freshwater and marine fisheries for nearly 10 years, with experience throughout the southern and Mid-Atlantic States, the Great Lakes, and the northwestern U.S. Much of his professional career has been devoted to quantifying human impacts on fisheries, with emphasis on recreational angling and investigating the foremost elements of diadromy (reproductive development, bioenergetics, and population demographics). Josh has acquired expertise in design, fabrication, and use of active and passive study approaches and survey methodology to meet research-specific needs while maintaining the integrity of the data collection process. Josh’s abilities range from large-scale fish netting, enumeration, and transport operations, to stratified independent sampling and data expansion/estimation survey methodology. These skills have led to his further involvement as an integral component of design, implementation, maintenance, and conclusion of research initiatives.

Mr. Murauskas has worked on a variety of projects over the past 9 years, ranging from the extensive sea lamprey management efforts throughout the Great Lakes, to the coast-wide Marine Recreational Fisheries Statistics Survey involving several agencies to develop reliable estimates of participation, effort, and catch of recreational anglers in marine waters of the United States. Aside from his capacity for fieldwork and leadership, Josh is skilled in project and database design/management, statistical analysis (SAS 9.1®), and producing quality reports, presentations, and visual aids to convey project objectives and results. Species of specialized interest have included diadromous alosines (esp. hickory and American shad), striped bass, sea lamprey, and most recently, salmonids.
