Capsule Resume

After completing her bachelor’s degree in marine science, Danielle spent two years volunteering with various marine mammal research organizations and gained experience with photo-identification, VHF radio tagging and tracking, focal behavior sampling, and passive acoustics, among other things. Danielle’s Master’s degree research focused on a newly discovered harbor seal haulout at the terminus of the Bering Glacier in southcentral Alaska. She identified and modeled significant seasonal trends in seal abundance and studied seal diet and haulout patterns to determine the environmental factors influencing their use of the site.

After finishing her Master’s degree, Danielle spent two years coordinating the biosampling program for the Alaska Native Harbor Seal Commission. She came to LGL in 2006, and has since been involved in a number of marine mammal research projects, including several different studies of Cook Inlet beluga whales and their seasonal spatial distribution patterns. She is currently dedicated to Shell’s Marine Mammal Monitoring and Mitigation Program in the Chukchi and Beaufort Seas.
