Capsule Resume

Gary has spent his career adapting field and analytical methods to resolving client's environmental issues in a credible and cost-effective manner. He has taken his innovative approach to wildlife research and applied it to a wide range of issues, many different species, and in an ever-expanding variety of geographic locations and habitats.

Gary has developed some novel methods of tracking wildlife across corridors and deterring birds from airports. He has pioneered the development of alternative habitat assessment methods and has been at the forefront of wildlife co-management issues in several areas of British Columbia. His projects involve wildlife management planning in northern British Columbia, development of effective methods of deterring birds from airports and improving airport managers' ability to detect and respond to bird hazards, He is especially interested in habitat restoration for wildlife, particularly on agricultural and disturbed lands. He has also recently conducted research on the effects of various riparian forest management regimes on wildlife and vegetation, and assessment of environmental effects of Navy activities on marine mammals and sea turtles. He is a member of the Wildlife Technical Committee for the Bridge-Coastal Restoration Program.
