Capsule Resume
Mr. Smith joined LGL's Sidney office in 1999 after completing an interdisciplinary Masters degree in Resource and Environmental Management at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, BC. While at LGL, Mr. Smith's work has focused on salmon enumeration and behaviour studies using mark-recapture methods and radiotelemetry techniques. In addition, Mr. Smith has been actively involved in the development and use of live-capture fishwheels as a stock assessment tool. This includes fishwheel projects on the Wannock (Oweekeno First Nation), Fraser (Yale and Siska First Nations) and Nass (Nisga'a First Nation) rivers, BC, Skagit River, WA (Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife), Copper River, AK (Native Village of Eyak) and Roanoke River, NC (Dominion Power). Recently, Mr. Smith has been involved in the development of watershed recovery plans (e.g., Cowichan River, BC) and marine fisheries research in the Coronation Gulf, Nunavut. |
