Capsule Resume
Shawn provides database programming and data analysis support for various projects, functions as a field biologist, and provides IT/web support at LGL's Sidney office. Since joining LGL, he has analyzed Didson hydroacoustic data used to observe the passage of Chinook salmon and has been involved in the installation and maintenance of radio telemetry stations used to track the passage of Sockeye salmon to spawning grounds along the Fraser River. He has also been trained in the construction, installation, and set-up of underwater videography systems for recording fish passage. He set up one such system on the Tlell River in the Queen Charlotte Islands. Additionally, he has performed environmental monitoring and snorkeling work for the Stoltz Bluff restoration project on the Cowichan River.
Prior to joining LGL, Shawn conducted bird surveys, wildlife track surveys, and herpetological surveys in the interior of British Columbia. He has worked as a fisheries biologist conducting stream and lake reconnaissance surveys, watershed restoration work, and monitoring of culvert and bridge installations. Shawn also worked as a marine biologist (observer) on the commercial fishing vessels in Alaska. His experience in the computing industry includes an 8 month position as a database programmer and two years as a software quality assurance tester.
