Valentina Yetskalo has 12 years of oil and gas industry experience. Since 1994 she has been continuously involved with the Kashagan field, one of the world's major oil and gas upstream developments in the Northeast Caspian Sea, first as interpreter/translator for the Caspian Sea Consortium owned by Agip, British Gas International, BP, INPEX, ExxonMobil, Phillips, Shell, Statoil and TotalFinaElf, and later as a Coordinator for several environmental consulting firms. Valentina coordinated large-scale projects for international oil consortia and managed environmental field operations in Kazakhstan. She joined LGL in April 2005. Since then Valentina is mainly involved in marine mammal monitoring and protection programs for several oil majors in Russia, Sakhalin Island. She planned and conducted several Marine Mammal Observation Programs and prepared reports describing marine mammal observation results, mitigation measures taken and recommendations. In 2006 Valentina also acted as Environmental Field Monitor for the 2006 Sakhalin-1 Project construction activities on the northeast shelf of Sakhalin Island, Russia. The responsibilities comprised coordination of environmental monitoring activities, ensuring contractors operate construction activities in compliance with requirements of Water Use Licenses (onshore / offshore) and conducting work site inspections/assessments. She was involved in overseeing sampling and analysis activities related to environmental field samples.
