Capsule Resume

Dr. Patenaude has participated in aircraft-based observations and acoustic study for the Northstar Marine Mammal Monitoring Program for BP Inc. in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. Also, on behalf of MMS, she participated in aircraft-based behavioural observations of whale responses to underwater playbacks of ice breaker sounds in Alaska. More recently, Dr. Patenaude has specialized in the effects of human activities on the recovery of large whales. She has more than 18 years of experience in marine mammal research, including conducting aerial and vessel based abundance surveys of several marine mammal species (bowhead, beluga, sperm whales, right whales, dolphins, seals and dugongs). She has collaborated on marine mammal field projects in several countries, including USA, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, New Caledonia, Tonga, Australia and New Zealand.
