Capsule Resume
Donna has been involved in freshwater and marine ecology since 2001. Initially focusing her studies of a unique freshwater population of harbour seals in Alaska, she has also led or participated in cetacean research programs. Her research was focused on the seasonal distribution patterns of an endangered population of killer whales in the Northeast Pacific Ocean for several years, followed by collaborative research programs to investigate anthropogenic impacts on killer whales. She has also been an instructor for field and lab courses centered on marine mammal biology as well as marine ecology and conservation. In addition, Donna has been involved in salmonid and marine fish research in Alaska, British Columbia, and Washington State.
Donna’s work focused in the North Atlantic Ocean in 2007, where she has been involved in studies of pinniped diet and habitat as well as killer whale distribution and ecology in the Canadian Arctic and sub-Arctic. Since joining LGL Limited, she has been involved at all stages of several marine mammal monitoring programs associated with geophysical research or oil and gas exploration, from the initial assessment of activities, conducting monitoring programs, data analysis, and final report preparation. Projects have been focused across the globe, including offshore Newfoundland, the Canadian and Alaskan Arctic, Greenland, eastern Mediterranean, Northwest Atlantic, North Pacific, and the tropical Pacific. Donna has also been the senior author or co-author of several peer-reviewed publications and LGL reports, has managed large and complex databases, and is proficient in statistical and GIS analyses. |
