Capsule Resume

Jeremy Gatten developed a passion for birds at an early age and has been involved in the B.C. birdwatching scene for more than 20 years. During this time, his interests have expanded into several other taxonomic groups, including plants, butterflies, dragonflies, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and terrestrial molluscs. Jeremy’s affinity to wildlife led him to pursue a diploma in Environmental Technology from Camosun College, followed by a bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Northern British Columbia.

Since joining LGL, Jeremy has been involved in a wide variety of terrestrial and marine wildlife projects across Canada and the western United States, including environmental assessments, long-term wildlife monitoring programs, natural resource inventories, species-at-risk surveys, and shore- and vessel-based marine mammal and seabird surveys. His experience extends beyond the field and into the office where he assists with proposal writing, project logistics, data quality assurance and control, univariate data analysis, literature reviews, and preparing technical reports. Jeremy is a well‑respected bird expert in the province, having recently served five years on the BC Bird Records Committee and currently sitting on the Victoria Bird Records Committee. He is also highly skilled at other taxonomic groups, including mammals, terrestrial molluscs, amphibians, reptiles, butterflies, dragonflies, and plants.
