Bridgette Pilon is an ecologist with a passion for the natural world and its protection. Her work in conservation and wildlife began in animal care and education programming, through rehabilitation and zookeeping working with a wide taxonomic array of wildlife from songbirds to caribou. She has experience in fish physiology and behaviour, avian and mammal behaviour, and fisheries community research.
Since joining LGL, Bridgette has been involved with various water quality monitoring projects including one in the Grand River Watershed. Bridgette’s experience in this regard includes field surveys, data analysis and reporting for surface water chemistry, macrophyte biomass, and benthic invertebrate studies. Her work in aquatic ecosystems also includes backpack electrofishing as part of fish rescue efforts. Bridgette’s experience extends to terrestrial studies including habitat assessments for Jefferson Salamanders, bat capture, census and radio telemetry implementation, amphibian surveys, breeding bird surveys, habitat restoration for species at risk, vegetation community mapping, and tree inventories.
